# canon-home-printer > Free, open-source (MIT) web app that lets a family print, scan and check a home printer from any phone, anywhere. It runs on a Linux computer the printer is plugged into (built for a USB Canon PIXMA G3010 on an old laptop) and is published through Cloudflare Tunnel behind Cloudflare Access, so nothing is opened on the home router. ## Facts - Website: https://taktek.io/canon-home-printer/ - Code: https://github.com/taktekhq/canon-home-printer (Go, one binary with the page embedded) - Needs: Linux, CUPS (printing), SANE scanimage (scanning), LibreOffice (optional, for Word and other office files), a domain on Cloudflare - Print: PDF, Word (.doc/.docx), Excel, PowerPoint and OpenDocument (converted to PDF with LibreOffice), JPG, PNG, plain text; colour or grey; copies; page ranges; up to 50 MB by default - Scan: PDF or JPG at 150, 300 or 600 dpi; each person sees only their own scans; kept 30 days - Status: live queue with who sent each job; plain-language problems with fixes (a job with no progress for 90 seconds is reported as probably out of paper) - Maintenance (chosen emails only): Canon PIXMA nozzle check, cleaning, deep cleaning (max two per 24 hours), via the canon-ij-maint Go package (https://taktek.io/canon-ij-maint/) - Security: listens on 127.0.0.1 only; verifies every Cloudflare Access JWT (signature, AUD, issuer, expiry); refuses all requests until configured - Cost: free; Cloudflare Tunnel and Access are free for up to 50 users - Made by Taktek and Nizar Mahmoud.
